Brief 1:
Strange Days

I chose the topic strange days, with the aim of finding obscure out of place objects. Visiting the Baltic area, I found quite a large amount of urban graffiti and artwork attached to the buildings derelict buildings. One particular artwork caught my attention, it was child’s kitchen, painted and mounted quite high up as some form of expressionist artwork. The worn down nature of it, repurposed as art, fixed to a semi derelict building made it an interesting object.

From a composition aspect I’ve tried to position the kitchen central within the rule of thirds. I haven’t cropped the image as I used the cameras zoom lens to frame the image. The brickwork and the brickwork relief through the middle adds a series of lines to the image. I changed the vibrancy to bring out the style of the artists colour choices. In addition I made a strong negative alteration to the highlights and shadows, whilst a strong positive enhancement to the texture was undertaken.

My main aim here was to draw out the structure of the artwork set against a brickwork background.  I wanted to pull out the colours, make them more neon, so vibrancy was increased and well as saturation. At this stage I felt it needed a bit more alteration, so I slightly increased the clarity with a medium level of dehaze.
