That would be the Camera Brand !!!! :-)
Over the last two years I have became very conversant with the Black Magic camera series. Cameras of this nature are not cheap at all but it's not the most expensive either. It strikes a balance between price - quality and applications therefore it's one I would naturally choose to own at some point in the future.
I did come across an interesting statement regarding cameras and lenses of which I had never really thought through. Digital Pro Tips ( 2024)
"As every videographer knows, the glass (lenses) comes first and the body comes second. You can always update a camera body but your lenses could last you a lifetime. So choosing the right lens is an important decision".
So cost aside for the "camera" getting the correct lenses is a key and fundamental investment, additionally the investment needs to be in lenses that would be used. This is something I hadn't considered before. I have some aged DSLR camera bodies that are still very usable however the lenses are out lasting them and easily fit with much newer models.
I suppose you could slip in to "all the gear with no idea" by just spending £££'s, this isn't the way forward. Understanding the lens selection is part of a key set of tools within Photography and Videography.
Yes the latest Smartphone boasts 4k Ultra hd.....blah blah, and some advertisements claim to have been shot on a smartphone. As an example " shot on iPhone" was Apple going outside of the box when it created a 5-hour video ad in a single take that featured a tour of Russia's Hermitage museum.
Impressive but the videographer must have thought which "lens" the iPhone Pro was using for each shot, exposure etc , it wasn't some random lets film something.
I think the point I am trying to make is that you have to consider the shot, lens selection and staging including lighting....it not just be randomly lucky....you create you own "luck"
Therefore lens selection is a key " tool"!
