"Get Back" to Penny Lane.......

Updated: Apr 17, 2023

Well we "Got Back" to Penny Lane and it wasn't a "Magical Mystery Tour" more a first journey in to using Geo Located Media. I'll stop the references to Beatles songs now, and I actually found the above image ( Wall Mural) at the side of the "Penny Lane Wine Bar" which I thought was interesting. I'm not too sure George Harrison would be impressed as he looks like he's been in the Wine Bar a bit too long..... but the other 3 would probably be happy with it. Anyway, back on topic.....

Pulling it together requires more edits than I thought!

This geo tour requires three aspects, the use of an Geo Locating - Media Hosting Software ( Echoes.xyz) and Adobe Audition and Premier Pro. I'm still finding my feed with Adobe, but I actually am growing to love it, Echoes is Ok'ish.....it's a bit temperamental but the user interface is simple enough.

Clipping the Audio

My team- crew mates and i had reviewed the script, argued about who had the best " BBC " voice" and then recorded the "sections".

it took a bit of clipping to remove the "dead space- pauses" and plus I enlisted the help of my uncle by recording him strumming away to " Penny Lane" to keep it royalty free. He asked that next time I pick an easier one!!!!

Sorting the Edits....

Once the audio clips " including the intro and outro" in location 1 and 4 of the acoustic track were edited , each saved as an "Element" in 48000htz and 24 bit ( reason for that Element term in a minute ). And, a "Walk Though " MP4 for purposes of a Rubic Marking was created . It was on to Echoes.xyx .

Echo.... Echo....

This is quite a simple software, but it requires you pinpointing circle locations as " Echoes" which is harder than you first assume. These "Echoes" have among other things" Elements" which allow sound uploads, see I told you I would explain that term.

You also need to plot the route via a "line", which is easy enough, and the gaps between locations can have polygon " elements" if you feel the need to infill with music etc.

It's an expensive platform monthly membership wise and probably only useful if you are to monetise content, then you would need to have a full account. However, it does work via the app for what we are doing. It's been a surprise to me over the last 6 months as to what software is actually out there!

I think it could do with a bit of refinement, especially with the "infill Elements", but I have to say I actually really enjoyed this one , and I get how it could be used in a commercial aspect. As an example it could be used in a chemical plant with audible prompts on safety, it could be a City Bus Tour, Football Stadium or Museum Tour.

Overall this one was very enjoyable, and we made our deadline, maybe a future project will encourage a revisit of this process , in addition to the Rubic Feedback!

Want to take a look.......(works better a mobile!)

And here is it

If we look at this unit from three aspects , the What went well, What didn't and What could be improved. So what went well? I think...
